Install PS3MediaServer on job4 and job6

  • requirements: jre 1.6 and recent versions of mplayer and vlc
  • get the tar from http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/
  • unpack the tar somewhere (e.g. /usr/local/ps3mediaserver)
  • go to the directory where PMS3.sh is located
  • make PMS.sh and linux/tsMuxeR executable and start PMS.sh
  • in the general-settings-pane select the network interface to use
  • in the navigation-pane add the folders to share
  • in the transcoding-pane select video files engine mplayer, check deinterlacing and choose language priorities
  • click on save and restart http server
  • Best used in a dedicated vnc session

What I'd like to have:

  • make ps3mediaserver log to syslog
  • rc script for automatic startup
  • spec file to generate rpm from tar which takes care of permissions
